Eligibility Criteria
1. Educational Qualifications
- Essential: A 4-year degree in B.Sc. (Agriculture) along with an M.Sc. (Agriculture) in 2nd Class from an institution or university recognized by the Central/State Government or ICAR.
- Desirable: M.Sc. (Agriculture) 1st Class or higher, paired with a solid working knowledge of the customs, manners, and regional dialects of Himachal Pradesh.
2. Age Limit (As of 01-01-2026)
- Candidates must be between 18 and 45 years of age.
- Age relaxations of up to 5 years apply to bonafide SC/OBC categories of HP as per state government reservation norms.
Scheme of Examination & Selection Process
The selection involves a two-stage evaluation designed to test both general aptitude and in-depth domain knowledge, followed by a personality assessment.
Stage 1: Written Examination (Conducted on the Same Day)
- Paper-I (Screening Test / CBT – 1 Hour | 100 Marks):
- HP General Knowledge: 30 Marks
- National & International Current Affairs: 30 Marks
- Hindi Language: 20 Marks
- English Language: 20 Marks
- Marking Rule: Negative marking of 0.25 marks applies for incorrect answers or unanswered questions where circle ‘E’ is left blank.
- Paper-II: Subject Aptitude Test (SAT – 3 Hours | 120 Marks):
- Descriptive paper based on the prescribed agricultural syllabus.
- Qualifying benchmark: 45% for General category and 40% for Reserved categories.
Stage 2: Personality Test (30 Marks)
- Held at the HPPSC Office in Shimla.
- Minimum qualifying cutoff: 40% (12 marks) for General and 30% (9 marks) for Reserved categories.
- Final merit is formulated strictly based on combined scores from Paper-II (SAT) + Personality Test (Total: 150 Marks).
