The Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, North West Region, invited applications for recruitment of meritorious sportspersons in different games/sports.

Important Dates :

The willing and eligible candidates can send their duly filled application form as per Annexure-ll in a closed cover super scribed with the words “Application for Recruitment in Sports Quota for the Post of Inspector/Tax Assistant/Multi-Tasking Staff” on or before 17.03.2023 (31.03.2023 for candidates domiciled in North Eastern States. Andaman Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep. Ladakh, Jammu & Kashmir)

Educational Qualification :

Income Tax Inspector :

Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized University University or equivalent.

Tax Assistant :

(i) Bachelor’s Degree from a Recognized University or equivalent &
(ii) Data Entry Speed of 8000 key depressions per hour.

Multi-Tasking Staff :

Matriculation or equivalent from a recognized University/Board.

Age Limit :

Income Tax Inspector18-30 Years

Multi-Tasking Staff18-25 Years

Relaxation of Age: 05 years for General/OBC candidates & 10 years in case of SC/ST candidates (As per OM dated 03.10.2013 of DoPT, Govt. of India, relating to Consolidated Instructions on Incentives for sportspersons)

Note:
(i) The candidate must have attained the Stipulated Age/Educational Qualifications/Sports Eligibility as on 17.03.2023.
(ii) Departmental candidates with three years of continuous service in Central Government can apply up to an age of 40 years (45 years for SC/ST candidates).
(iii) The candidate must be a citizen of India.

SPORTS ELIGIBILITY-

Proficiency will be evaluated with reference to the following criteria in descending order of preference:-

Sportspersons having represented
(i) A state or the country in a National or International Competition in any of the games/sports as mentioned in Para 3; or
(ii) Their University in the Inter-University Tournaments conducted by the Inter-University Sports Board in any of the games/sports as mentioned in Para 3; or
(iii) The State Schools Team in the National Sports/Games for Schools conducted by All India School Federation in any of the games/sports as mentioned in Para 3; or
(iv) Sportspersons who has been awarded National Awards in Physical efficiency under National Physical Efficiency Drive.

Note:
The best three performances in the calendar years 2023, 2022, 2021, 2020, 2019 & 2018 (after 01.01.2018) will be considered for evaluation.

SELECTION OF THE CANDIDATES-
The applications will be scrutinized & suitable candidates will be shortlisted for further selection process. The selection will be conducted through document verification, trials and written test as found necessary, which will be announced in due course.

Success in the above tests confers no right to appointment unless the department is satisfied after such enquiry as may be considered necessary that the candidate is suitable in all respects for appointment to the post.
(i) The recruitment process will be in two phases. In the first phase, all the candidates will be ranked, as per their option for the post applied for, based on their achievements in sports/games. It is clarified that field trials will be conducted and performance in the field trials will also count for ranking purpose. However, the candidates who are not found fit in the field trials will not be considered for appointment.
(ii) In the second phase, the shortlisted candidates will be called for a written test. The candidates will be required to appear for the same at their own expense. The written examination for the post of Income Tax Inspectors/Tax Assistants/Multi-Tasking Staff will be in English/Hindi & will consist of objective type multiple choice questions in General , Reasoning, Numerical/Quantitative Aptitude, General English & General Awareness. Based on the aggregate marks obtained in the first phase and the second phase, the candidates will be ranked for selection. The candidates applying for Tax Assistant posts will be required to qualify the Data Entry Skill Test @8000 key depressions per hour, as per the provisions of the relevant recruitment rules.
(iii) The Candidates should enclose attested copies of the following certificates.
(a) Matriculation/SSC or equivalent certificate for proof of age.
(b) Certificates of Educational Qualifications.
(c) Sports/games certificates as mentioned in Para 4 above.
(d) SC/ST Caste certificate for proof of caste/age relaxation. (if applicable)
(e) Aadhaar Card/PAN Card/Voter ID Card/Driving License or any other Government issued ID proof.
(iv) Sports achievements certified by authorities other than those recognized by the Ministry of Sports & Youth welfare shall not be considered.
(v) Candidates who are already employed in Central Government or State Government or PSUs should submit an NOC from the present employer which should be enclosed with the
application.
(vi) The selected candidates will be on probation for 2 years or such period as per the extant instructions of the Government of India. The selected candidates will be liable to be posted anywhere in the North West Region (Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh & U.T.’s of Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh & Chandigarh). His/her participation in the tournament/meets on behalf of the Department will also be a deciding factor in the declaration of his/her probation. The selected candidate will be required to represent the North West Region, in the tournaments/meets for a minimum of 5 years. The selected candidates will also be required to sign an undertaking that he/she would not seek inter-charge transfer on loan basis/any other inter-charge transfer policy the CBDT may notify in the future for a period of 10 (Ten) years.

(vii) Any form of canvassing by any candidate will render his/her candidature liable to be
rejected summarily at any stage of the recruitment process.
(viii) Incomplete/Incorrect applications without the required Annexures will be rejected summarily and no correspondence in the matter will be made with the candidate.
(ix) In case, a candidate applies for more than one post then he/she will be considered for appointment in the following order subject to his/her eligibility for appointment to such
posts-
(a) Inspector of Income Tax (b) Tax Assistant (c) Multi-Tasking Staff
(x) The Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, North West Region reserves the right to cancel the recruitment process at any stage without assigning any reason.
(xi) In the event of any tie, the decision of the appointing authority will be final.
(xii) This recruitment is subject to applicable rules for Recruitment of Meritorious Sportspersons issued by the Government of India from time to time.
